skin lightening milkWomen have been looking for the perfect solution to beautiful skin for centuries. Billions of dollars are spent by the cosmetic industry every year to research, produce and market products that offer the promise of flawless skin and beautiful complexion.

Every time something new comes on the market, women flock to it in the hope that it could be the answer for them.

For some women, their complexion may have uneven coloring, with patches of darker skin in certain areas of the face. These women desire a more even tone to their face. They want a lighter tone. So, skin lighteners have become quite in demand in the skincare industry.

Many ingredients have skin lightening properties. Surprisingly, some of the ingredients that are found in high-end skin lighteners can actually be found in your very own home.

For example, take lactic acid. This is often found in skin lightening cream at cosmetic counters in department stores. However, did you know that lactic acid is found in milk? For people who are into skincare using organic ingredients, they often use milk as a skin lightener.

The dark discoloration in your skin is caused by the overproduction of melanin in your skin. Lactic acid can reduce the production of melanin.

So, if you treat your face with lactic acid regularly, you basically halt the production of melanin in your skin. Overtime, as the dark patches of your old skin exfoliate away, you are left with fresher and brighter-looking skin.

The results can vary from person to person because different skin types will react differently to various ingredients. But on the average, when you treat your face with lactic acid everyday, you can see results after about three weeks. Most people can see their skin tone lighten by about half of a shade.

Just how do you use milk as a lightening agent? The procedures are very simple. First, cleanse your face following your normal skincare routine. You should be using a mild cleanser that is formulated for your skin type.

Then, pour some milk into a bowl. The milk can cow’s milk or goat’s milk. Some people like to use buttermilk because they say that it makes their skin feel extra smooth and soft. Warm the milk in the microwave for about half of a minute.

After you do that, take a soft, clean washcloth and saturate it with the milk. The washcloth should be very wet but it should not be dripping. Look at your face in the mirror and identify a part with discoloration that you want to lighten.

Take your washcloth that was soaked in milk and use a gentle circular motion to massage the milk into the discolored area. If your washcloth dries out, soak it in the bowl of milk again. Work on other parts of your face that is troublesome.

If you do this everyday, you should see your skin lighten after about three week’s time. When you have reached this point in skin tone improvement, you have to maintain this by treating your face with milk no less than two times per week.

Besides applying milk directly onto your skin for skin lightening, you can combine it with other natural ingredients to make beauty treatments. For instance, you can make a mask by mixing two tablespoons of milk and honey with the yolk from one egg.

Smooth the mixture over your face and leave the mask on your face for about 30 minutes. After that, rinse it off with cool water and blot dry.

Lemon juice and lime have been used to lighten freckles for decades. You can combine lime juice with milk for a treatment that you can apply to areas with hyperpigmentation. Mix one spoonful of gram flour with two tablespoons of milk and several drops of lime juice. Spread this paste on your face and leave it there for 20 minutes. Rinse off with water afterwards.

Try making a paste with almonds and milk. Soak some kernels of almonds in milk overnight. In the morning, the almonds would have softened enough for you to make a paste.

That evening, apply the paste on the areas with discoloration and leave on overnight. Do this everyday for the next two weeks, and you will see amazing results.

Consider using papaya with milk. Combine a cup of pureed papaya and a half teaspoon of milk, honey and rose water. Apply this mixture to your skin and leave it there for 20 minutes. Then rinse off.

You can combine milk with other natural ingredients to make your own skin lightening treatment. Do some research and jot down some notes. Be mindful of your own food allergies because you would not want to cause a reaction on your skin.

So, lightening discoloration on your skin needs not be a complicated matter. Many people have used natural ingredients to create effective treatments. Many cosmetic companies use extracts of natural ingredients in their skincare products because they see the positive effects that these have on hyperpigmentation of the skin.

Natural ingredients, like milk, are good alternatives for people who are sensitive to a lot of synthetic ingredients. Natural ingredients are certainly worth a try because they are readily available in your kitchen or from the market, and they are inexpensive. One of these treatments made from milk may produce good results for you.
