skin lightenerFor people who have uneven skin tones, skin lighteners are the best solution for their problems. With continuous use, these products promise to give you fairer skin and lighten dark spots, like the skin on the knees, elbows, and acne marks. The result is even skin that will make you more confident to face the world.

A visit at the skin care section of a store will surprise you with the multitude of skin lighteners that are available now in the market. They range from skin lightening lotions, skin whitening soaps, skin lightening creams, masks, and many more. Although they may be very tempting to buy, their prices might make you turn your back on them. Still, do not lose hope, as there are other ways to a fairer skin. For instance, you can try some home recipes from ingredients that you can find in your kitchen.

Lemons

If you plan to make lemonades this summer to freshen you up, leave out a few lemons for your skin. Lemon juice is great skin lighteners, as well as other citrus extracts, because they contain citric acid and vitamin C. If you have oily skin, you should mix it with fuller’s earth to make a paste and use it as a mask. For dry skin, mix it with olive oil and honey to produce a moisturizing face pack. Do this once a week, but if you want to see faster results, you can increase it to twice a week.

Orange Peels

Nothing is wasted from this great fruit, which also happens to be one of the many natural skin lighteners. After eating the fruit, set aside the peels and dry them in a sunlit window. Once fully dried, grind the peels and mix it with yogurt to form a paste. Apply on skin, leave for fifteen minutes, and rinse off with cold water. You can do this daily and in a few weeks, you will eventually have fairer skin that is also free from blemishes and acne.

Papaya

Most skin lighteners also contain exfoliating properties, which help in the fast turnover of old skin so that age spots and freckles can become less noticeable. This is exactly what papaya can do for your skin with its natural enzyme called papain. To make a face mask, mash the papaya to make two tablespoons. Mix this with a teaspoon of rosehip oil. Combine this mixture with raw honey at a ratio of 1:1. Apply the mask on a freshly cleaned face and leave for about 15 minutes before rinsing.

Tomato

Tomato contains lycopene, an enzyme that helps brighten your skin. Mix this with oatmeal and you will have a very powerful mask for an overall skin care. Oatmeal has moisturizing properties and it also helps exfoliate the skin. Cover your face with this mixture and leave for fifteen minutes.

These are just some of the many recipes that you can create from your kitchen to give you a fairer and brighter complexion. Use them regularly and try alternating them to find which one works best for your skin. Natural skin lighteners are much safer to use than over-the-counter products that may contain harsh chemicals, so wait no more and try some of these concoctions.
